Hello and welcome!
Who am I?
In short: A tech geek with a green thumb!
In long: My name is Svitlana Lukicheva. I hail from a small Crimean village between the Azov and Black Seas, where I first fell in love with nature. In 2002, I moved to Belgium at 16, discovered the magic of computers, and instantly knew I wanted to become a computer scientist. My life has been a mix of caring for (and puzzling over) cats, and more recently, I’ve developed a deep affection for tropical plants. This connection with nature ultimately led me to bioinformatics, and I’m happy to be advancing plant research in Belgium, where greenery is valued as much as chocolate.
Why this website?
Because I found myself with some free time during my August 2024 holidays, I decided to learn a new web technology and apply it by developing a website with the help of ChatGPT. Since I’d already created websites for all my animal protection associations, I thought, why not make one for myself? And in one week, it was (well, almost) ready! (Thanks ChatGPT!)
As I needed some content about myself, I decided to talk about my passions: Feel free to check out the final result (or at least the parts that are already finished).
What else to say?
I share my life with:- A half-Italian, half-Belgian man who’s as crazy about technology as I am and excels in predicting how it will evolve (he’s even about to publish a book on his optimistic vision of the future!)
- A 6-year-old son who’s a walking encyclopedia on Mario Bros and Pokémon, subsists on pasta and pizza (thanks, Italian genes), and is mad about math (thanks, computer scientist genes).
- And a very peculiar cat who’s black, round, and spends his days trying to murder us (and himself). We’re still debating whether he’s a genius or just really dumb.
Oh, and my home is a jungle of tropical plants. Ask me about them at your own risk—you might get a half-hour lecture!
